Sunwing Vacations
Sunwing Vacations in 2026: what has changed
Sunwing Vacations is still selling vacation packages, but it is no longer an independent company. WestJet Group finished buying Sunwing in May 2023, and Sunwing Vacations is now one of the brands in the Sunwing Vacations Group, WestJet's vacation division. The orange Sunwing airline is gone: WestJet finished integrating Sunwing Airlines on May 28, 2025. Sunwing package flights now run on WestJet aircraft with WestJet crews, and you check in with a WestJet booking code.
Where it flies
Sunwing is strongest in Ontario and Quebec, with departures from Toronto, Montréal and Québec City to Cancún, Punta Cana, Montego Bay, Varadero and other sun destinations. From Western Canada it runs dedicated flights from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, mainly to Cancún, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta. It still has hotel partnerships with resort chains such as RIU and Blue Diamond.
Who it suits
Beach resort holidays in Mexico and the Caribbean with meals and activities included, family trips, and destination weddings.
Booking tips
- Check the baggage rules. Because the flights are now WestJet's, the old Sunwing baggage allowance may no longer apply. Confirm what your fare includes before you compare totals.
- Use your WestJet Rewards. Since September 2026, eligible Sunwing packages earn and redeem WestJet points.
- Book winter trips early. Early-booking promotions for winter usually open in early summer. If you are going to Cuba, ask us about the current status, because Sunwing suspended its Cuba operations for part of 2026 during the island's fuel shortages.
