Alba Tours
ALBATours: the Italy specialist and where it went
ALBATours began as a small company run by Italian-Canadian travel agents. It flew summer charters to Italy for the Italian-Canadian community and later added winter sun charters. In 1997 it merged with Sunquest. For years after that it was Sunquest's sister brand, selling escorted coach tours of Italy, packages to other parts of Europe, and Mediterranean cruises. In 2013 both brands passed to TravelBrands, part of the Red Label Vacations group.
ALBATours does not appear to be operating as a bookable brand today. Its former website no longer loads, and we could not find a current ALBATours brochure or program. ALBATours has no connection to Albatross Tours, an Australian company with a similar name.
Planning the kind of trip ALBATours sold
Escorted Italy tours and Mediterranean holidays are still easy to book from Canada. Other tour operators sell guided coach tours, and you can fly to Rome, Venice or Milan on a scheduled airline, usually with a connection from Western Canada. We can help you compare options.
Booking tips
- Check the time on the coach. Past ALBATours travellers' main complaint was long days on the bus. Before you book any escorted tour, ask how many hours a day you'll spend on the coach and how much free time you'll have.
- Ask about open-jaw flights. Flying into one Italian city and home from another usually saves you a day of backtracking.
- Book shoulder season early. May, June, September and October are popular for Italy tours, and the best departures fill early.
